THE Citizen can exclusively reveal that a Tesco foodstore is proposed to be built on the Fenland Way site in Chatteris following the grant of planning permission on the land last year.

Harrier Developments Limited have secured an agreement with Tesco to build an environmental store and will be submitting details of the design to Fenland District Council.

The development will bring a Tesco store, a petrol filing station, a new pedestrian link beneath the A141 Fenland Way and a contribution to FACT (Fenland Association for Community Transport), enabling the provision of a new bus which will provide a service to the store six days a week.

The construction of the new access serving the foodstore will also enable the relocation of Travis Perkins from their current premises on London Road to the land adjacent to the store, providing Travis Perkins with the operational needs for a new modern day Builders Merchant.
