More tributes have been paid to local councillor Robert Scrimshaw. who died suddenly on Saturday at his Murrow home.
Members of Wisbech St Mary Parish Council kept a minute silence on Monday evening as a tribute to their colleague at their meeting.
Parish Council Chairman Brian Payne said: ‘Councillor Scrimshaw was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable councillor who spent a lot of his time meeting people and attending organisations in the three villages which make up this parish. His service and assistance to local parishioners will be greatly missed.
“He was not a political animal, he was simply a peoples’ councillor’.”
Councillors were joined by Cllr Gavin Booth, chairman of Parson Drove Parish Council, of which Cllr Scrimshaw was a member.
Mr Scrimshaw was elected on to Fenland District Council in 2008 and Fenland’s chief executive, Paul Medd, said: “This very sad news has come as a real shock. I was only speaking with Robert on Thursday and while he mentioned that he had felt unwell over Christmas he came across as his normal committed and passionate self. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him and particularly by those who benefited from his selfless efforts - the constituents in his ward, Parson Drove and Wisbech St Mary parish councils and Fenland District Council.”
