Organisers of a coffee morning held in aid of the children's charity, NSPCC, at the Secret Garden in Wisbech on Saturday were blown away by its success.

Over £1,300 was raised for the charity, which is not only national, but also does work in the local community and part of the purpose of Saturday's event was to raise awareness of that work.

The event included not just coffee and cakes but a variety of stalls.

One run by local charity volunteers including plants, bric-a-brac and clothes. Local businesses including jewellery, honey and crafts also ran stalls adding to what organiser Lisa Melton described as a "buzzing atmosphere".

There was also a raffle with dozens of donated prizes.

She said the event's success means there are now intentions to hold a similar coffee morning next year.
