Long Sutton resident raises concern over ‘dangerous’ town junction
A ‘very dangerous’ junction has been flagged as a concern by a worried member of the public – who was warned they face a ‘uphill struggle’ to force change.
During the public open forum at Long Sutton Parish Council, a resident raised fears about parking, vehicle speed and ‘coming to the road blind’ at the town’s London Road and Park Lane junction.
He told councillors: “I consider it very dangerous, there is an S-bend and fast cars coming to the road blind –should there be a 20mph speed limit?”
The resident, who lives in Park Lane, also mentioned issues with parking and said: “Parking causes major issues – residents can’t park outside their own house.”
County and district councillor Jack Tyrell advised the resident that it was a county issue but that putting a complaint forward is time consuming as there has to be proof with evidence of speeds and the process can be ‘an uphill struggle’.
Chair John Clarey added the experience from the resident was ‘dreadful’ and advised to contact traffic and highways.
We put the concerns to Lincolnshire County Council’s highways team after the meeting and a spokesman said: "We currently have no request logged for restrictions on parking at the junction of Park Lane and Little London.
“However, if a resident would like this to be considered then we advise that they contact their local county councillor directly who will be able to put the request forward for consideration by the traffic team."
