Coronavirus: Eleven more patients die at King's Lynn hospital
The deaths of 11 more patients who had tested positive for coronavirus at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital have been confirmed this afternoon.
It is the single highest daily update of the crisis so far and takes the total number of deaths recorded at the hospital since the outbreak began to 94.
Chief executive Caroline Shaw said: “We can confirm today that a further 11 patients – nine men aged between 76 and 93 and two women aged 90 and 92 – who had tested positive for COVID-19 have sadly died while being cared for at our hospital.
"Our thoughts are with their families and loved ones during this difficult time.”
The announcement came only hours after staff joined millions of people around the country in observing a minute's silence in memory of key workers who have died during the outbreak, including their colleague Chrissie Emerson.
