Councillor wanted

FANCY trying your hand at local government? If so Chatteris Town Council would be interested in hearing from you.

A vacancy on the Mills Ward has arisen following the resignation of Cllr Diane Baldry due to family commitments and the fact she is moving to March.

Electors were given the opportunity to call a bye-election but failed to do so, as a result the council must now fill the vacancy by co-option. Notices have gone up in the town advising of the opportunity.

Anyone wishing to apply to be co-opted as a councillor should submit a short CV and give reasons why they wish to become a councillor and what they have to offer the town.

Anyone interested have to apply in writing to Town Clerk Joanna Melton, at the Council Chambers 14 Church Lane, or or via e-mail at

Applications need to be submitted by March 27 as the co-option will take place at the next Town Council meeting on Tuesday April 3.
