Councillors and mayor of Wisbech raise concerns about crime and disorder including illegal activity involving youngsters and revving engines
During Wisbech Town Council’s monthly meeting, concerns were highlighted over anti-social behaviour raised by members of the community.
At Monday’s meeting, councillors voiced concerns they had received from residents relating to crime and disorder.
Cllr Sam Hoy said residents on Churchill Road particularly on Willow Way are experiencing a lot of problems.
Their houses back onto Churchill Road and there are a number of ‘boy racers’ coming along and revving their engines “really loudly” at the back of the homes, she said.
“It is causing people a lot of upset because it's going on really late into the night and it's happening every night now.
“It is becoming extremely frustrating,” Cllr Hoy said.
She said that it is not just about speeding: “It is particularly when they sit at the traffic lights and deliberately rev their engines.”
Cllr Steve Tierney said there were similar issues along Queens Road, including speeding, and said: “I would like to encourage the police to spend a bit of time there and on some of the other long roads – and catch a couple of people maybe that will send a message to those drivers.”
