Appeal after sexual assault

POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted as she walked home in Wisbech.

The 36 year-old was approached by the attacker, who was riding a bike, at about 3.30am on October 30 near the park entrance. He spoke to her but then dropped back and followed at a distance. As she left the park and began walking along Tavistock Road, the man rode up behind her, pushed her against a wall and sexually assaulted her.

The victim screamed and attracted the attention of a woman who had also walked out of the park. The victim fought the attacker off and was helped by the other woman.

The victim walked home and told friends who called police. She was not seriously hurt but was left very shaken and upset. The attacker was described as white with long brown hair and wearing a dark long-sleeved top, blue jeans, riding a dark mountain bike with white lettering on the frame.

DC Ahmed Ishaq said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim. I am keen to hear from anyone who may have information about the attack and particularly the young woman who came to the victim’s aid, as she could have important information.”
