Did you see fight in Chatteris?

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fight which began in a takeaway before continuing on a street in Chatteris.

The incident happened between midnight and 1am on Sunday (August 5) in New Road, starting in Chilli Masters.

The victim, a 26-year-old man, tried to intervene in a confrontation between his friend and another man, but got punched several times and fell to the floor.

He then left the premises but he and another friend, aged 26, were attacked again in New Road, knocked to the ground and struck with what is believed to be a cricket bat.

Neither of the men were seriously hurt in the incident.

One of the attackers is described as white, 16 to 20, slim, six foot, and had short light brown hair.

DC James Bennett, who is investigating, said: “We are treating this incident as a violent disorder and it is lucky that no one was seriously hurt.

“I would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or has any information about the attackers.”

Anyone with information should call DC Bennett on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555111.
