A MAN has been sentenced for an assault in March which left his victim needing hospital treatment.
James Dean (52), of Creek Road, March, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday (January 8) where he was found guilty following a four day trial.
Dean was sentenced to a £1,500 fine and ordered to pay £1,500 compensation and £2,000 costs.
Dean attacked his victim on January 21 last year in the Tesco car park in Hostmoor Avenue. The 60-year-old man was sitting in his Mercedes Sprinter van when Dean approached him and dragged him out of the vehicle before assaulting him.
The victim was taken to Edith Cavell Hospital for treatment for a fractured eye socket and cuts to the head.
Dean handed himself into police later that day.
DC Jon Edwards said: “This was a nasty assault which left the victim needing hospital treatment and I hope the sentence provides him with some comfort.”
