March store hit by thieves

POLICE are urging businesses and residents to be vigilant after another March town centre business was broken into.

Nigel Lambert, owner of Greetings on Broad Street, was stunned to discover the mess that awaited him when he entered the shop at 8am on Thursday morning.

Thieves had broken a window at the front of the greetings card store and forced open a door at the side of the premises. They prised a safe off a wall, which contained hundreds of pounds, and caused hundreds of pounds of damage inside the shop.

The break-in is the latest in a string of burglaries to hit March town centre. The police are still keeping an open mind over whether they are linked.

Businesses are being urged to keep doors and windows locked and if anyone sees anything suspicious, they are asked to call the police on 0345-456-4564.
