Robber attacked manager in the street

A MARCH businessman was robbed in the street as he took the day’s takings to the bank.

Jerry Baldwin, manager at West End DIY on High Street, left the store at 5.45pm on March 10 to take the cash to nearby HSBC.

A man sat on a low wall outside the shop approached him and tried to grab the bag with the money inside. Mr Baldwin fought back and was punched in the side. They tussled and the suspect threatened the manager.

He managed to tear the bag away from Mr Baldwin and ran off along High Street, heading out of town.

Mr Baldwin was left with badly bruised ribs and other bruises and is keen to find the person responsible.

The robber is described as a white male, aged between 21 and 40, 5” 8’ or 9’ tall, clean shaven with a straight nose and full face and lips. He perhaps had a mole on his right cheek. He was wearing a black or dark navy beanie hat, with a black, long-sleeved coat, light coloured T-shirt, black jeans or trousers and blue and white checked boxer shorts.
