Theft leaves March Brass 2000 without a trailer

THIEVES have left a March music group high and dry after stealing the trailer used to transport its percussion instruments.

March Brass 2000 is well-known in the area for its musical performances but is now in the difficult position of having to find a new trailer after their existing one was stolen.

The black Klinn twin axle secure trailer – with ‘March Brass 2000’ and contact details on both sides and the back – was in a car park at Fen View, Chatteris, when it disappeared overnight between 8pm on Thursday, February 16 and 8am on Friday, February 17.

The six feet by four feet trailer had been parked, with the tow bar facing a fence and a wheel clamp securing it. However, group chairman Peter Sutterby said when it was empty, it would not have been hard for someone to pick it up and wheel it away.

Mr Sutterby said: “This is going to be a great inconvenience. We have just managed to secure a drummer after looking for over a year, but now we have no trailer to transport the equipment.”

The trailer was insured but March Brass will still have to find some money to get the right vehicle for its needs, in addition to the impact it will have on the insurance premium.

Anyone with information about the theft should contact Cambs Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
