Decision on Emneth housing scheme deferred

Councillors have requested more information from roads officials about the potential impact of a major housing development in Emneth.

Members of the West Norfolk Council planning committee visited the site off Elm High Road, which 117 homes are proposed for, yesterday morning, but delayed a decision on the scheme when debate resumed in King’s Lynn.

The move means the application is now likely to be considered again at the committee’s next meeting in early December.

Supporters had argued that the project was a sustainable development which could be delivered immediately.

But opponents voiced concerns over traffic safety, flood risk and the potential impact of the development on services in Wisbech.
