Motorists have been warned that delays are likely in Welney when £130,000 footway works get underway.

Contractors working for Norfolk County Council are due to start work on Monday to replace areas of kerbing and footway on Main Street between Wren Cottage and The Lamb and Flag pub, and it is expected to last for seven days.

The works are being carried out ahead of major carriageway resurfacing works between Chestnut Avenue and Old Bedford Bridge, which are planned to be carried out before March 2015.

It is the council’s intention to carry out the resurfacing works while the Welney Washes are flooded in order to minimise disruption to road users during the consequent road closure.

Temporary traffic signals will be in use and access to properties within the limits of the works will be maintained.
