Jail for March officer

Detective Sergeant Matt Swash, 41, based at March Police Station, admitted the offence at an earlier hearing.

A court heard the officer had accessed unauthorised information about a colleague on a police computer system.

Det Sgt Swash appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday, February 17, when he was sentenced to two months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay £250 costs.

Previous charges faced by Det Sgt Swash have been stayed, ending the proceedings.

Det Sgt Swash remains suspended pending internal misconduct proceedings.
