Diamond March couple mark 60 years of marriage

A diamond couple put the sparkle into Bonfire Night when they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Neil and Margaret Mortlock, both 82, tied the knot on November 5, 1955, and have been happily married ever since. The couple, of Hawthorne Grove, March, met at the March fair in 1948, when they were both aged 15, and married seven years later. They then moved into the house they still live in now, which was built by Mr Mortlock and his father on a piece of land given to his fiancée as a 21st birthday gift. The couple, who have three children and one grandchild, celebrated their anniversary with a family meal at the Plate and Porter restaurant in March on Thursday, and a party for friends and family at the town’s Oliver Cromwell Hotel on Sunday.
