WE’RE looking to crown a whole new crop of champion gardeners again this year and green-fingered residents in the March area are being invited to enter.

The Citizen - in conjunction with March Town Council’s March In Bloom group - is launching the popular annual garden competition, which carries hundreds of pounds worth of prizes.

This is now the 16th year of the competition and a host of new winners will be crowned. Category winners from previous years who enter will be placed in the Champion of Champions category. Previous winners will not be eligible to enter any of the other categories.

Our sponsors this year are March businesses RB Johnson, Ridgeons, West End DIY, Selby and Taylor Opticians plus March Town Council.

If you want to stake your claim, send us a picture of your garden as soon as possible - don’t leave it to the last minute to enter.

Mark your entry ‘March Garden Competition’ and remember to state which category you are entering and put your name, address and a daytime contact number on the photograph.

Send your entry to the Citizen at 26 Market Place, March, or 11 Union Street, Wisbech.

The closing date for entries is 5pm June 20 but please don’t leave it to the last minute.

Entries can be sent via email to sue.irving@fenlandcitizen.co.uk Remember to include all the above details with the picture. Emailed pictures must be in jpg format and no bigger than 2MB.

Some of the photographs may be featured in the Citizen in the build-up to the competition but it will not be possible to feature every entry. However, all the entries will be passed on to the judges who will be making their garden inspection on July 3. The winners will then be featured in the Citizen.

The prizes will be presented at a special reception hosted by March Town Council on July 27 at the Town Hall.

Entrants may also be eligible to take part in the annual gardens open day in the summer.
