With the Christmas holidays almost upon us, West Norfolk Borough Council is reminding people to check their bin calendars to make sure they don’t miss their bin collection day.
Collections will take place as normal up to and including Christmas Eve. There will be no collections on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Collections will resume on Friday, 27 December.
Cllr Brian Long, Cabinet Member for Environment, explained: “All the Christmas collection dates were published on the calendars that were issued to households earlier this year. If anyone has lost theirs, they can go to the borough council’s website www.west-norfolk.gov.uk and put their postcode into the ‘Find my nearest’ search function on the front page. This will enable them to see when their collection is due to take place. For some people collections may take place on a Saturday, so it is definitely worth checking.”
“We are delighted that we won’t need to miss any recycling collections this year, black and green bins will be emptied on the same fortnightly pattern with food waste being collected on the same day as either your green bin or your black bin.”
If anyone would like a new calendar they should contact our contractors Kier on 01553 776676.
If you put your bin out for collection on the correct day, but it is missed, this should be reported by 12 noon the following day using the Kier number above or by going to borough council’s website and filling in the missed bin collection form shown in the popular tasks on the front page.
As always additional side waste will only be collected if it is tied into a bag with a red tag purchased for £1.50 from borough council offices.
