Wisbech and District Talking Newspaper has received a £400 donation from two supporters.
Mrs Patrick and Mr Starbuck attended a recent recording session at Peckover House to present the money, which was raised by asking guests to a birthday celebration to give a donation in lieu of a gift.
Isobel Shippey, cecretary for the Talking Newspaper, said: “We are very grateful to Mrs Patrick and Mr Starbuck for their generosity. We, as a charity, are quite close to Mr Starbuck as his mother receives our three publications each month. It is because of her praise that we were the chosen recipient of this money.
“It is yet another boost to our fundraising project to move over from analogue cassettes and CD format to memory sticks. We are now at a very exciting stage, as we are in a position to purchase all the equipment we need.
“We have been able to achieve this so much faster than we anticipated due to the overwhelming generosity of the Wisbech community, who helped us reach our target of £2,000 in a matter of weeks.
“We are planning a big launch party to introduce our listeners to their new equipment and to take the opportunity to say a huge ‘thank you’ to our very generous benefactors. We can also show them how their donations are going to improve the lives of blind and partially-sighted folk.”
