A double bill with The Saturdays and Lawson is the opening music event of 2013 at Newmarket Racecourses.

After the last horse race on 8 June the two bands will perform on ‘Summer Saturday Live’, the second day of racing on the July Course.

Tickets are now on sale at and by telephone on 0844 579 3010 – and music and horse racing fans alike are being urged to book their places as soon as possible.

Amy Starkey, regional director of Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “It’s fantastic to be announcing a double bill of music for our first ‘Summer Saturday Live’ of 2013. The Saturdays and Lawson are really popular bands and our spectators will love them when they bring their infectious music to the July Course. It will be an occasion not to be missed.”

Since The Saturdays formed in 2007, the band has become a household name, with 11 top ten singles, including songs like All Fired Up and Higher and three top ten albums. Renowned for their energetic live performances, The Saturdays have also been a hit in their own fly-on-the-wall TV shows The Saturdays 24/7 and What Goes On Tour.

Lawson made their mainstream breakthrough when supporting The Wanted on tour two years ago. They became massive in 2012 with three top ten singles and in the autumn they released their first album, Chapman Square, which reached number four in the charts. This month they embark on their Chapman Square tour.

‘Summer Saturday Live’ on 8 June is in addition to the renowned Adnams Newmarket Nights at Newmarket Racecourses. As well as the ‘Nights’ with Madness (19 July) and the Kaiser Chiefs (2 August), there are five other concerts at the July Course on Friday evenings over the summer – 21 and 28 June, 26 July, and 9 and 16 August. The five remaining artists will be announced in coming weeks. McFly will also be in concert for the second ‘Summer Saturday Live’ on Saturday 24 August.
