A ghostly gallery of newspaper sculptures lent an eerie presence to the end of year assembly at Wisbech Grammar School.

Figures moulded from newspaper, which had been created during a day-long house event 24 hours earlier, brought a haunting atmosphere to the school’s Russell Hall as pupils gathered for the final time.

In a break from tradition the annual event for the school’s four houses switched from presentations by outside speakers to an activities day consisting of foreign languages, acrogym, team building and sculpture.

The winning sculpture, the ‘It girl’, was created by members of Holmes house and the winning house overall was Sparks.

Head of houses Mr Tim Chapman said: “It was a unique and wonderful event which brought all elements of the school together.”
