A Chatteris pre-school has improved standards to be awarded a ‘Good’ rating by a government inspector.
In its most recent Ofsted inspection, Peter Pan Pre-School, based in the King Edward Centre, was praised for its good relationships with parents and teaching.
Inspector Emma Bright wrote in her report: “Practitioners have a secure understanding of the learning and development requirements and competently put them into practice. They understand how children learn and the quality of teaching is good.”
Children’s communication skills are developed through interaction with staff and confidently join in with activities. They are challenged by the activities offered in the pre-school and are encouraged to investigate. The learning environment was also praised, with both indoor and outdoor activities offered.
The inspector noted there are still some areas that need improvement before the setting can be given an ‘Outstanding’ rating, including improving the information obtained from parents before their child starts at the pre-school and giving youngsters opportunities to experiment with writing.
Julie Coleman, chairperson of the committee-led pre-school, said: “Staff are thrilled with the report and as chairperson, I will say it is reward for their dedication and hard work. They are very committed.”
