The much-loved deputy manager of Gorefield Pre-school got a stupendous sending-off as she retired.
Lynda Pesterfield enjoyed an afternoon tea party at the pre-school and some of the guests were children who used to attend the village establishment.
Manager Christine Kaye said: “We will miss her. She is a lovely person, one of those really nice people who never has a bad word to say about anyone.”
Lynda has worked at the pre-school for around nine years and until recently lived in the village. She then moved to Long Sutton with husband Roy to be closer to their grandchildren.
She took the decision to retire to spend more time with Roy and the rest of her family.
Christine joked they call her ‘Sergeant Major’ and were surprised when Lynda revealed she used to be a dental nurse in the Army. She met her husband, who was a nurse, when she cut her leg and he carried her back, stitching her leg wound.
