A feast of festive fare was cooked up in the final of the first ever Great Wisbech Grammar School Bake-Off. The 45 starters, including pupils and staff, were whittled down to eight for the final staged at Octavia View.
The competitors had to decorate something for Christmas. Year ten pupil Christopher Green (15), who was the only male in the final, was the winner with his gingerbread house and his prize was a cookery book and a commemorative mug. Runner up was teacher Kate Taylor, who had made a tower of profiteroles. The judging panel was made up of representatives of teaching staff, Wisbech Rotary and Octavia View. The organiser was Alison Sloan, head of food and nutrition at the school.
