FENLAND MP Steve Barclay will be the guest of honour when he officially opens a new building at Kingsfield Pre-School in Chatteris.

The North East Cambridgeshire MP will lead the celebrations for the opening of the new building, which will allow the pre-school to offer more childcare places.

The opening event will take place on Friday October 14 at 1.30pm. Kingsfield Primary School headteacher Susan Dowling will open the proceedings, followed by the official opening and a response from Kingsfield Extended Schools Committee Chair Philip West.

The need for the new building arose when Kingsfield Pre-school was unable to provide the required amount of Early Years childcare places for the area.

Beneficiaries came together to make the project happen. It was funded mainly by the Fens Adventurers Local Action Group (LAG) – with additional money from the Ormiston Trust, Cambridgeshire County Council and the pre-school.

The LAG delivers the Rural Development Programme England in Cambridgeshire and West Norfolk and is managed by the County Council and Cambridgeshire ACRE.

The new building has enabled the pre-school to extend its pre-school and after-school club and holiday club. It can now offer an additional 30 places in addition to the 26 currently available.
