FORMER champion boxer Dave ‘Boy’ Green will be the guest of honour when he officially opens new buildings at Manea Primary School on Wednesday.
The £1.7m extension at the school includes a new outdoor learning space, a music room, a group room and new kitchen facilities.
It will be officially opened at 10am by Dave ‘Boy’ Green, accompanied by Cambs Council chairman Cllr John Powley.
In a seven-year career spanning 105 fights, Green, who turned professional in 1974, won the British and European Light-Welterweight titles and the European Welterweight title.
His nickname was suggested by his manager and trainer Andy Smith and came from a Chatteris boxer called Eric Boon, who fought in the 1930s.
The proceedings will be opened by Cllr Powley, followed by the opening by Dave ‘Boy’ Green and a response from Manea Primary School’s Chair of Governors Sarah Eastol. Children from the school will then give a presentation of music and dance.
