School truancy fines

MORE parents of pupils at Thomas Clarkson Community College have appeared in court for failing to ensure their children attend school.

One father pleaded not guilty but did not attend the hearing at King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court and was found guilty in his absence.

He was fined £110 with costs of £50 and a victim surcharge of £15.

A mother who pleaded guilty to two charges relating to two pupils was fined £25 for each offence and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15.

In a separate hearing, the parent of a child at Neale-Wade Community College in March was fined £250 by Peterborough Magistrates with £150 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

The defendants cannot be named for legal reasons.
