A3.5MW solar farm in Elm could be given the greenlight at a meeting today.

W Cheung wants to install solar panels and CCTV cameras on land north of the Wales Bank junction.

Members of Fenland District Council’s planning committee have been recommended to approve the plan during at today’s meeting.

A report to the committee states: “Visual impacts are mitigated by the use of perimeter landscaping and noise impact is not an issue. Concerns with regards to highway safety and the flow of traffic during the course of construction are currently being addressed and officers are confident that the issues can be overcome. It is recommended that planning permission is granted.”

Elm Parish Council has objected to the plan on the grounds of a detrimental visual impact and the loss of agricultural land.
