A Fenland nursery school is celebrating after being judged as ‘good’ in all areas by education inspectors.
Emneth Nursery and Children’s Centre received the rating from Ofsted following a unannounced visit from the watchdog last month.
In a report, published last week, inspector Veronica Sharpe said quality of teaching at the Hollycroft Road centre was “consistently good and sometimes outstanding”.
She said: “Staff are well-qualified and experienced. Children’s communication and language is supported particularly well, because staff are skilful in teaching children how to listen and join in with enjoyable conversations.”
She said children were enthusiastic learners who care for each other and play well, and are happy and trusting as the settling-in process is “highly successful”.
“Staff provide children with clear and consistent messages about the expectations of good behaviour. As a result, children are sociable, polite and well behaved,” she added.
The report also said leadership and management at the setting were good, with robust child protection procedures, with good training opportunities and support for staff.
To improve further, the centre has been advised to enhance the planning and delivery of group activities, so children engage better. It has also been told to improve information sharing with parents and carers, to further their involvement in their child’s learning.
