Think of Wimbledon and what comes to mind? Long, lazy summer days, strawberries and cream?
Wimbledon has become a symbol of English midsummer, so indulging in a luxurious Strawberry Tea seems the perfect way to celebrate summer, tennis and all that goes with it.
Savouring the pleasures of Wimbledon and midsummer, the National Trust’s Peckover House is holding a Sparkling Strawberry Tea in the Reed Barn tea room on Sunday, June 28.
“We wanted a menu that really evoked summer and all that is Wimbledon,” said catering manager Laura Andrews, ‘so our menu is filled with treats such as canapés, savoury muffins, open sandwiches, with strawberries, cream and Tennis Ball Truffles featuring heavily in the dessert selection.”
As an extra indulgence, sparkling Prosecco can be added to the menu, and whatever the weather brings to us at midsummer, a walk in the garden with all its scents and colours, will enhance any afternoon.
Wimbledon Strawberry Tea, for which booking is essential, will be served in the Reed Barn on Sunday, June 28, between 2pm and 4.30pm at £11.95 (children £4.95) or with Prosecco at £20.95.
