Everything from whopping cabbages and cauliflowers, to tasty cakes and preserves helped make Saturday’s 13th annual Walpole Gardeners Club Flower and Produce Show a massive success with an excellent quality of entries in all 50-plus classes.
Apart from fruit, vegetables and flowers, there were also classes for bread, cakes and home-made preserves. The flower arrangement saw contestants design colourful table arrangements and there were also a number of young gardeners who took part.
Overall class winners were: Vegetables, Alan Plummer; fruit, Jo Rabicano; flowers, Beryl Taylor; kitchen and bakery, Julia McFetteridge; art, Sylvia Swann and Graham Gosling; patio pot, Kay Argent; speciality cup, Wendy Welfar.
The Victor Ludorum prize was won by Jo Rabicano.
Organisers were delighted with the success of the show which saw entries slightly up on last year.
