GRATEFUL relatives of a Fenland man suffering from stomach cancer have raised cash to say thank-you for his hospital care.
Paul Bingham (52) from Emneth was diagnosed with the disease last year and underwent treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.
Thankfully he is now on the road to recovery and his sister Mandy Pears, and niece Hayley Pears both of Chatteris organised a fundraising fashion show.
They were helped with the organisation of the event, held at Chatteris Working Men’s Club last month, by friends Angela Stocker of Doddington and Fleur Higham of March.
The show by Spectacular Fashion was well attended and the family were delighted with the amount raised.
Paul, Hayley, and Mandy went along to the hospital recently to present a cheque for £800 to Sister Sharon Holmes, who received it on behalf of the Chemo Room Extension Fund.
Mandy said: “We thank all the nurses who helped Paul get to the stage he is at now.”
And Hayley added: “The fashion show was a really good night. We are all proud of how much we raised. We have done quite a few fashion shows but this is the most we have ever raised. We would all like to say a great big thank you to everyone who came and supported the event.”
