SHOPPERS at the Horsefair Shopping Centre were entertained by the antics of a popular pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow who is pictured here with the centre’s manager Kevin Smith.

With a mixture of pirate wit and charm, Captain Sparrow helped to raise more than £440 for Fenland Arts charity on Saturday July 16.

Generous donations from the Horsefair’s shoppers and those attending an event at Dunhams Wood helped the charity which gives those living in the Fenland District Council area access to the arts.

Horsefair manager, Kevin Smith, said: “Jack Sparrow was very popular with our shoppers, his act was very convincing! With his help and our shoppers generosity funds were raised for an important local organisation.”

The centre also planned for the Birmingham Citadel Young People’s Band to play for shoppers but unfortunately the weather was too wet for them to perform.
