An accountants firm seeking to create a hub employing up to 45 people has submitted new plans for the building.

Whiting & Partners gained planning permission to build new offices on land north of Mill Hill Garage in Wimblington Road, March in February 2016.

Work on the site was commenced in December 2019 on the highway access but the development was then postponed to allow the firm to look at its changing needs and the viability of the scheme.

Now Whiting and Partners have submitted a new application which is an alternative to the one already approved.

A design and access statement drawn up by Brand Associates in support of the new plans explains the new scheme is similar to the original one, but is a prefabricated, factory-built building "to give a good quality viable scheme".

The statement adds the accountants firm has branches in March, Ely, Bury St Edmunds, King’s Lynn, Ramsey and Wisbech.

These new offices are to form a newly created centralised hub servicing the north and west sector of the business, plus accommodate the existing March and Ramsey branches. The offices will provide normal operational facilities and services of a chartered accountants, auditors, business advisors, wealth management, and IT services.

The firm’s management, administration and specialist services will be centralised to the developing needs of clients over the next 25 years. The local offices, except March, and perhaps Ramsey, will remain open but with administration, backup and specialist services provided by this new Fenland Hub Office.

The offices will initially employ 45 people, comprising 20 from the existing March branch office, and 25 transferred from other offices and new jobs. This is the first part of the company’s growth strategy. Further increases in employment and later, additional office accommodation is expected.
