A landscaping firm has won a £500,000 contract to look after Fenland’s parks and cemeteries.

Fenland District Council has awarded the five-year contract to ISS Facility Services Landscaping, which starts on November 1.

The core works will cover a broad range of grounds services, including looking after bowling greens, along with undertaking special operations for Wisbech Yule Fayre and Chatteris Festival.

ISS will be working closely with community groups such as Street Pride.

Cllr Peter Murphy, cabinet member for environment, said: “We take a lot of pride in the high quality of all our grounds maintenance, which has been a key factor in our terrific record in Anglia In Bloom, and we’re confident that will continue.”

Phil Jones, ISS managing director, said: “We are delighted to have won this contract with Fenland District Council.

“In the current challenging climate, we have worked hard to come up with an operational solution that will deliver a quality service, which all stakeholders can be proud of.”
