All children aged between 5 and 16 are being invited to enter a winter colouring competition giving them the chance to win up to £70 off a Soft Play or Splash swimming party at one of Fenland’s New Vision Fitness leisure centres.

Details of the competition, which features 12 recycling cartoon characters, are being delivered to all households over the next couple of weeks by the council’s refuse and recycling teams.

They are included in a winter recycling leaflet that also contains advance information on Christmas holiday bin collections, a calendar of all bin collection days up to May 2016, and links to two entertaining and informative new videos produced by RECAP, the recycling organisation for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Cllr Peter Murphy, Fenland District Council’s Cabinet member responsible for the environment, said: “Make sure you take a good look at this new leaflet, which is packed with useful information, including the collections calendar for the next six months.

“In particular, use it to help make sure you’re recycling as much as you possibly can - and get your children to have a go at the colouring competition.”

Runners-up in the competition will receive vouchers towards family swims, gym passes and other activities at New Vision Fitness centres.

All the competition details are available online at www.fenland.gov.uk/education and in the council’s one-stop shops, community hubs and New Vision Fitness leisure centres.
