Fenland children light up the stage

More than 400 proud parents and family members packed into a Fenland college when talented youngsters hit the high notes at an annual music concert.
Pupils from six schools took part in the Schools Make Music event at Cromwell Community College in Chatteris, organised by Chatteris Rotary Club.

The college’s choir, rock band and orchestra were joined by pupils from Manea Community Primary, Benwick Primary, Lionel Walden Primary in Doddington and Glebelands and Kingsfield Primary Schools in Chatteris for the event.
The concert raised £270 for the Rotary Club and marked the club’s 40th anniversary.
Each school performed two choral items, with music from each of the decades to celebrate the milestone.
The evening finished with all of the choirs joining together to perform three songs, accompanied by guitars and drums.

Rotary club treasurer Roger Peacock thanked everyone who helped to make the event a success, particularly the college’s head of music, Corinna Gawthrop.
