The skies across Fenland lit up at the weekend when thousands of people enjoyed a host of fireworks displays.

The rain failed to dampen spirits at the All Saints Academy in March, when its 13th annual spectacular was held on Friday night. Hundreds turned out for the event, which was organised by the Friends of the school.

And after a day of downpours on Saturday, the skies brightened up in the afternoon in time for displays at Skylark Garden Centre in Wimblington and at Wisbech St Mary Primary School.

The Skylark fireworks were delayed by half an hour to allow people queuing in cars along the Manea Road time to get in – but spectactors said it was well worth the wait.

Huge crowds enjoyed the fireworks extravaganza in Wisbech St Mary, which was organised by the school’s Parent, Teacher and Friends association.
