LEARN MOREA Fenland farmer is offering a home to a Ukrainian family fleeing the terror of the Russian invasion rent free for a year.
George Munns, of L and AE Munns of Westmoor Farm, in Chatteris, is appealing to anyone interested to get in touch after posting his generous offer on Facebook.
George, who is married to Jane and whose farm produces top quality rape seed oil, honey and also goose fat among other crops, explained one of the farm's three-bedroom homes, normally rented out to farm workers is about to become vacant.
He said: "It will be available for 12 months. We would very much like to make it available, free of rent to a Ukrainian family fleeing the terror of the illegal Russian occupation.
"With the terrible events in Ukraine and the awful humanitarian crisis unfolding, our feelings of guilt, helplessness and anger all competing for "brain time" have brought us to a conclusion that we must do something.
"It is all too easy to watch the news and be worried, to be sad and to be angry. In reality these emotions are natural and their suppression isn't right, they after all are what make us human.
"Sometimes though they are not enough. We are looking for anyone who has Ukrainian relatives that need to relocate to safety.
"We can easily accommodate an adult couple with two or three children.
"I will give my promise that we will look after and make welcome the family. We will not be seeking anything in return or any rent for the property.
"The only outcome we would like is in some small way make a difference to a family that has had a rough time. Our thoughts are with the brave people of Ukraine. Long live Ukraine."
