For the fifth year running, Fenland District Council hosted a special ceremony to pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our servicemen and women.
Former members of the armed services were invited to attend a flag-raising ceremony and parade of standards on Monday at Fenland Hall, March.
The event came a few days before the official Armed Forces Day on June 29 and was hosted by Councillor Ken Mayor, FDC’s chairman who is also chairman of the Whittlesey branch of the Royal British Legion.
The day is designed to honour all members of the armed forces who have served the nation, not only on the battlefield but also in peacekeeping and humanitarian work and in emergency operations such as search and rescue.
A special Armed Forces Day flag will be flown outside Fenland Hall all week.
