Fenland District Council is urging anyone who is not yet registered to vote to do so as soon as possible.

The call comes on the eve of National Voter Registration Drive, the annual, week-long, campaign led by the charity Bite the Ballot and the Electoral Commission. This runs from February 1-7.

Anyone who isn’t registered won’t be able to vote in the election of a Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire on May 5. The deadline for registration for that poll is Monday, April 18.

Joanne Anderson, electoral services team leader, said: “I’d urge anyone not yet registered to do so as soon as possible and to spread the message to their families and friends.”

Residents can register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or call 01354 654321 to get a paper copy.
