Residents across Fenland are being urged to snap-up government cash to help keep your home warm during the cold weather.

Families living on low incomes and pensioners are entitled to the Cold Weather Payment, which was triggered when the weather fell to sub-zero temperatures for seven consecutive days between January 17 and 23.

The postcodes entitled to the payment are: PE12, PE13, PE14, PE38, CB6 and CB7.

Payment of the £25, which is the set amount payable for each time the temperature falls below zero centigrade for seven days running, should be paid automatically within 12 days of the seventh day.

However, Fenland MP Steve Barclay is urging all those eligible to check they have received payment.

Anyone who believes they are entitled to a payout, but hasn’t received one, should contact contact their local JobCentre Plus or Pension Centre.

One warm day within a cold snap will stop the payment being triggered.
