A series of public hearings on Fenland District Council’s Core Strategy – its vision for the district for the next 20 years - is being held at Fenland Hall in March this week (December 9-13)

The hearings, which start 10am at Fenland Hall in March, are being conducted by Claire Sherratt, an independent inspector from the Government’s Planning Inspectorate.

The Core Strategy contains the planning policies and broad locations for the growth and regeneration of Fenland over the next 20 years.

The inspector’s task is to examine the strategy in detail and establish whether it is “sound”, taking all the representations into account, and to report on her findings.

Following extensive public consultation earlier in the year, the document was submitted to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government in September.

Next week’s hearings will examine all aspects of the strategy. People who have made advance representations will be invited to speak to put their case. They have already been notified.

Other members of the public will be able to attend the hearings to view proceedings. However, they will not be able to speak.

The Inspector’s findings are expected to be announced in early spring.
