Students at a Fenland school had reason to celebrate when they picked up a nationally recognised sports qualification.
A total of 21 Year 12 students from the Neale Wade Academy in March have been presented with their Sports Leaders UK Level 2 certificates. The qualification teaches leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. It saw the students organise sports sessions with younger students, as well as adapting activities for people with physical disabilities and running competitions. An Academy spokesman said course director David Kenning and principal Jason Wing were delighted to present the awards, which “mirror the Academy’s commitment to promoting wider aspects of the curriculum for all students”. Meanwhile, students Declan Jackson, Katysue Griffiths and Danielle Green were awarded the national flagship, Spirit of Leadership Award, for the excellence of their work. • Photo: SUPPLIED
