A charity which helps isolated older people is appealing for volunteers.

Care Network Cambridgeshire is hoping to recruit 10 volunteers in the Fenland area.

Volunteers help older, isolated or vulnerable people to stay independent and maintain social contact.

Help at Home volunteers offer short term practical help and emotional support to people during difficult times such as illnesses or following a hospital stay. Volunteers do tasks like shopping, collecting prescriptions and calling in for a chat.

Community Navigator volunteers research and provide information and help in the community, so that older people can access enjoyable activities or useful services which they otherwise wouldn’t have known about.

Manager Hilary Johnys said “Our Help at Home volunteers visit people in their own homes and offer practical and emotional support in times of need, whilst out navigator volunteers help older people access information on local services that they might find useful or enjoyable. Our volunteering opportunities are flexible and can fit around your other commitments, you give as much or a little time as you would like.”
