Families have been made homeless in Wisbech after a fire in a block of four terraced houses.
Emergency services were called to West Parade at 4.45pm yesterday (Tuesday) after a fire started in the roof space of a block of four terraced houses.
Two fire crews from Wisbech and one crew from March were called and they evacuated the residents from all four homes and got to work extinguishing the fire, using two hose reels and one jet.
After the bulk of the fire was out, crews also used ladders to gain access to remove some of the roof tiles. This was done to ensure that there were no hot spots remaining and that the fire had not spread.
The homes have been severely damaged by fire and some of the homes are uninhabitable.
A victim support unit was called to provide emergency housing for the residents. It is not known at this stage how many families required this.
Crews returned to their fire stations by 8.45pm.
A fire investigation will take place this morning to determine the cause of the fire.
