Firefighter car washes

Firefighter car washes across Cambridgeshire this March will mark the 10th anniversary of the traditional charity event nationwide.

Soap and sponges will be at the ready at fire stations across the county to collect cash for The Fire Fighters Charity, which provides support, rehabilitation and care for fire service personnel across the country.

The first of the events will take place at Papworth Fire Station, in Ermine Street, Papworth Everard, on Saturday, March 8, from 10am until 3pm.

Firefighters at Gamlingay Fire Station, in Stocks Lane, Gamlingay, are soaping up their sponges on Saturday, March 15, from 10am until 3pm.

Parkside Place Community Fire Station, Cambridge, is holding a car wash on Saturday, March 22, from 9am until 5pm. At this event, motorists will also be able to donate using Barclays Pingit service for the first time.

Chatteris Fire Station is also running a car wash on Saturday, March 22, from 10am until 2pm.

Cambridge Firefighter Matt House, one of the organisers, said: “All these firefighters and supporters will be giving up their time to drag the hoses out and wash cars for this worthwhile charity. It would be great to see as many drivers as possible stopping by at our various stations across the county and letting us get those cars sparkling clean!”
