Firm has big charity drive

A big charity push at a Wisbech firm has come to an end with the presentation of more than £1,300 to help local cancer patients.

Staff at Yearsley Logistics are celebrating after raising a total of £1,380.84 for the Macmillan and Hudson Palliative Care Centre at the North Cambs Hospital in Wisbech.

A host of events were held throughout the year to raise money, including auctions, cake sales and sweep sales, with generous donations of prizes from local businesses.

The fundraising was part of the Yearsley Group’s 60th birthday celebrations – which seen more than £60,000 raised for various local and national charities throughout the UK. Harry Yearsley, managing director at Yearsley Group, said: “The enthusiasm, dedication and generosity of each of our staff amaze me each and every year.

“We’re proud of our employees who help make our giving possible. Thanks to them, we’re making a difference.”

The Wisbech depot’s fundraising total will help the Macmillan unit provide care for patients with life-limiting illnesses.

The unit not only provides specialist palliative care, but also bereavement and support services, complementary and diversional therapies and a number of inpatient beds.
