Flood alert in Guyhirn
A flood alert is in place for parts of Fenland this morning.
The Lower Nene, which takes in Guyhirn, has been affected by the rains brought by Storm Christoph.
The alert on the Government's Flood Information System said: "Over the last week we have seen heavy rainfall across the River Nene area, with a further pulse of rain last night, falling on an already saturated catchment.
"This means river levels will remain high today (Thursday, January 21) and for the next few days, leading to continued flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river.
"We expect the river to remain high throughout today, and for the next few days. Flood Warnings remain in place at North Bank Road and the B1040. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. We are constantly monitoring river levels, and have staff in the field checking for blockages and clearing weedscreens."
